Go ask Alice

With Tim Burton’s remake of Alice in Wonderland hitting theaters in March, the world is going cuckoo for Carroll (Lewis that is)! Disney’s classic version will always be one of my favorites, but I’m excited for what promises to be a more grown up, darker Alice.  I’d like to see her ditch her little girl duds for a look that still maintains its youthfulness, but has a bit more edge! Be like our updated Alice in the Floral Jewel Headband by *The Extras, the Xmas Shoe by Jeffrey Campbell, the Stretch Bracelet with Clock Charms by Betsey Johnson, and the Kala Dress by Jack BB Dakota.

Poor little rich girl

edie

Long before the Kardashians and the Hiltons, Edie Sedgwick dazzled the public as the original celebuntante. Discovered at a NYC party by Andy Warhol, Edie became his muse and was skyrocketed into the spotlight, becoming a cultural icon in her early 20s. Edie always wanted to be an artist, but became quickly consumed by Warhol and his factory, spinning out of control in a world of 1960s materialism and drugs. Yikes. Eventually succumbing to a crippling heroine addiction, Edie died at only 27. Her beauty, charm and extreme vulnerability have continued to influence authors, artists and designers, decades later. She is my most favorite, and if you are interested on learning more about her, read Edie: An American Girl. In the meantime borrow some of her look with the Henna Dress by WeSC, the Foxy Loxy Coat by Motel, the Scrunched Headband by *The Extras, and the Chainbow Earrings by Melody Ehsani.

Steal Her Style: Susan

susan

Oh pre-kaballah/A-Rod Madonna, what HAPPENED to you? You were so cool!! Madge’s role in the ’80s classic “Desperately Seeking Susan” helped to propel her to the forefront of the alternative fashion scene. Twenty years later, we are still imitating her style. Get the look with the Oh La La Leggings by Kill City, the Vice Blazer and the Scandalous Lace Top by Free People, the Cross Triangle Earrings by CHRISHABANA and the Big Ball Long Chain Necklace by *The Extras.

Steal Her Style: MTV’s Daria

daria

I remember RUSHING home from school to watch this dark cartoon comedy on MTV when I was like, 11.  I thought I was tres cool watching it, but looking back, I probably understood about 2% of the jokes. Whatever, her shoes were cool. Cop her look with the Scarlett Sunglasses by *The Extras, The Marshall Me Skirt by Insight, The Carter Blazer by Heartloom, and the 1B99 14 Eye Zip Boot by Dr. Martin.

Street Style: Kate (Our adorable Executive Assistant!)

kate.ss

Kate is the latest addition to the Karmaloop fam. She is sweet and sophisticated, just like her style. Kate models a look that can be crisp and presentable for the work place, and spiced-up for after hours. Pair The Colbert Blazer by BB Dakota with the thigh-high Gia boots by Dolce Vita and you have yourself a sexy chic look. Match any light colored or fish net tights with The Cutout Menswear Dress by Free People, and heat things up a notch. Feel free to tone it down with leggings tucked in your ultra high boots. Cold winter weather doesn’t have to mean giant gloves and puffy winter boots. The thigh-high Gia boots will keep your leggies toasty, while The Doubs Gloves by Free People will quickly warm your hands in style. Leave your work bag at the office and sling The Let it Ride Shoulder Bag by Nixon across your shoulder as you head out. You’ll have just enough room for the cell and ID, and leave the paying to the boys…!

* Scarf, Hat and Tights owned by Kate, The Stone Earrings by The Extras

Steal Her Style: Minnie Mouse

Untitled-1

While I can’t say I’m too fond of her personality–I find her rather shrill–no one can deny that Miss Minnie has her style game on lock. Steal some of her swagger with the Warrior Top by Hellz Bellz, The Velour Melissa Joy + A.H by Melissa Shoes, The Monique Sunglasses by the Extras, and the Splice Tie by Cheap Monday.

Street Style: Miss Ali (Summer Intern)

6 13

Left: I’m wearing a versatile BB Dakota dress with a necklace from  *The Extras and a bracelet by Disney Couture. BB Dakota is also one of my favorite brands at Karmaloop because their pieces can be worn with both sandals and heels for different occasions.

Right: For my second outfit, I am wearing BLANK jeans with a lovely bustier top by Rojas with jewelry by Alex and Chloe and a Nixon watch. I usually don’t wear jeans but BLANK makes unique pairs that attracts me to them, not only are they comfortable, they are extremely stylish.
