Selena Gomez in Sauce

Although, as a young Disney star, Selena Gomez has often been portrayed as your typical teeny-bopper in bright colors and graphic tees, it seems that in her actual day-to-day life, she has a much cooler sense of style.  She looks super comfy yet trendy in The Hearts Pocket Tee by Sauce.

/\/\/\Y/\

M.I.A., queen of genre blending and mind bending beats, has a notorious style that is often imitated, but never duplicated… until now, since here at Karmaloop we’re hooking you up with the same threads as this controversial mamacita. While promoting the release of her 3rd album /\/\/\Y/\ (aka Maya, which as you may know, has garnered tons of attention due to its loaded political messages), M.I.A. has been spotted in some aggresively cool slashed camo print Tripp NYC pants. As we await these bad boys at Karmaloop, check out Tripp’s more polished version, the Heavy Wash Jean. Pair it with the Love Game Oversized Top by Hellz Bellz and you’ve got yourself a pure “Maya” outfit. If one M.I.A. isn’t enough for you, definitely watch her performance on David Letterman earlier this week!

the C-A-Z, the A and the L

We know that you, the Karmaloop lady, are always looking ahead with your pulse on the trends. But sometimes the cycle looks to the past, reviving the style of fashion muses from another era. Why buy retro inspired when you can cop the original? We tipped you off to Vintage Eyewear, our latest eyewear sensation, and hopefully you’ve joined the ranks of a celebrity fanbase (will.i.am) and fellow fashionistas over at The Cut. Build some wardrobe character with coveted models ranging from friendly vintage designer prices ($150) to splurge worthy, hard to find styles ($350). Large and in charge 80s glamour, sleek and sporty aviator silhouettes, and psychadelic prints…Check out some heavy hitters below!

For a good giggle, treat your ears to a throwback hit: Snatchin’ Cazals by the Cazal Boys (circa 1985 baby!). You will not be disappointed.

From top to bottom: the Carerra 5244, the Cazal 324the Dior Sunglasses in Tortoise & Gold, and the Porsche Design 5657.

American Dreams

America…fuck yeah!!! July 4th is right around the corner and it’s the only day you can truly pull out all the stops in red, white, and blue attire to honor fireworks, apple pie, football, advancing in futbol (GO USA!), cut off shorts, hot dogs, beer, driving Chevys to the levee, pop tarts, you know, American things. Put together your own lady liberty look from our AMERICAN DREAMS offerings on our Shop by Style page.

Floral Fun

Trends seem to change every season, some of them good and some of them we simply try to forget (ya Crocs, we’re talking to you). But one trend that always seems to stick around come every spring and summer is floral. When you’re getting dressed in the morning and the sky is blue and the sun is shining, you can’t help but be drawn to a colorful, floral top. There’s a reason why *NYC Boutique has deemed this top the Floral Fun Top, seen above in the current issue of Life & Style.

Boyfriend’s Closet

We love our boys — and their loungewear. Not gonna lie, we think some of it looks better on us than them (at least that’s what we tell ourselves to rationalize the comfort level). Whether menswear inspired or literally taken from our men’s wear (brownie points for feminine personalization!), the casual cool factor of some worn in shorts, tees, and “borrowed” hats make the closet coup worthwhile. Visit our Shop By Style category, BOYFRIEND’S CLOSET, to avoid the risk of encountering smelly socks when sneaking into your guy’s territory.

Runway Inspired

If Safari’s not your thing and you’d much rather turn heads in a crowded room, our RUNWAY INSPIRED Shop by Style category might be more up your alley. Lux items from our favorite runway shows don’t usually get along well with our wallets, but trends always transcend the limits of our bank accounts! I recently read something along the lines of “style is personal, fashion is inspirational” — use our guide to find pieces that make the “inspirational” part of your personal style.

Above: the Emma Corset Dress by Blaque Label (inspired by the lingerie trend) and the Charli-C Shoe by Jeffrey Campbell (inspired by the retro clog trend).

Ridin’ Dirty Along the Tour D’ Horse

Calling all ladies with an attitude! Trans-Atlantic style protagonists Darkhorse and Claw Money have collaborated on the recently dropped, limited edition ‘Ridin Dirty’ pack — a duo of fingerless gloves and an oversized tank that truly pays homage to its title. The legendary NY graffiti artist (Claw Money, that is) lends her hand to the UK/LA based Darkhorse blend of cheeky and sexy apparel, leaving us with their love child: Tour D’ Horse. The back of the tank has graffiti scrawled “New York City to London Town” over a roster of our favorite cities from here to the other side of the pond and back around the far east. The fingerless gloves polish off the look with a healthy dose of studded leather.
