I’m an Oxford man, myself…

For close to decade, whenever the summer months rolled around, I refused to wear anything but my flippy floppies!  Now that I’m pushing 24 (frightening) I’ve been forced to face the fact that while comfy, my rubber flip flops are about as fashionable as BP is environmentally friendly.  So I’ve relegated the flops to the beach only, and have chosen these classier sandals for work, casual night out, and other general city merriment.

Cop This Look: Beachy Chic

Still have a while to go before beach season (with the exception of all you spring breakers!) but might as well start daydreaming about it now: boardwalks, sand, sun, surf, friends, windows down. Vanessa Hudgens has the exact look for that daydream in frayed denim shorts, a floppy beach hat, strappy sandals, and a baggy Wildfox tank.

Get a similar summer style with the Wildfox #9 Mega Babe Tank by Wildfox, the Soth Cloth Relax’d Classique Shorts by Blank Denim, and the Odessa Sandal by DV Shoes by Dolce Vita.

Strapping!

Why spend nearly $600 on a pair of Chloe canvas strap sandals when you can get some from 80%20 that are nearly identical and less than 1/5 of the price?  Not digging the canvas? Upgrade to a perforated wedge instead, and STILL have some serious cash $$$ left over. Not sold yet? Don’t forget that each 80%20 sandal features the signature hidden wedge, perfect for an instant growth spurt!

Street Style: Miss Ali (Summer Intern)

6 13

Left: I’m wearing a versatile BB Dakota dress with a necklace from  *The Extras and a bracelet by Disney Couture. BB Dakota is also one of my favorite brands at Karmaloop because their pieces can be worn with both sandals and heels for different occasions.

Right: For my second outfit, I am wearing BLANK jeans with a lovely bustier top by Rojas with jewelry by Alex and Chloe and a Nixon watch. I usually don’t wear jeans but BLANK makes unique pairs that attracts me to them, not only are they comfortable, they are extremely stylish.

Splurge vs. Save: Rubber Sandals

jellies

We were all excited by the return of Jellies a couple of summers ago, but who ever thought that these childhood staples would find their way from the playground to the catwalk? Personally, I’m jazzed that designers are coming out with more chic and sophisticated versions of this childhood staple.  Chloe, Givenchy, Fendi and Marc Jacobs have all recently come out with their own spin on the classic plastic sandal.  I’m jonesing for Scarfun Wedge by Melissa–they have a much friendlier price tag and a sleek wedge.  My inner 6 year old approves.
