Party Platform

Ahhh the September issue…it even SMELLS glorious.  This year’s featured some platform clogs from Celine which, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re bound to have seen before.  Brands like Jeffrey Campbell and Zigi have done a great job of producing nearly identical versions which are much more cost effective.  My wallet says, “hoooray!”

Doppelganger

Pack up your tanks and your flippy floppies! Autumn is just around the corner, bringing with it cooler weather, military inspired duds, and some positively lusty leather boots.  While many brands are leaning towards a more muted palate, Dolce Vita certainly isn’t afraid to use a little color! Check out the Mica dress, which features a bold navy and deep russet orange colorway. The burnt orange pattern works on just about any skin tone, and provides a nice alternative to what promises to be a season inundated with olive and khaki.

We Love Weiners…

…all of them. But especially Erica Weiner. As one of our latest jewelry additions, this lady is bringing us affordable, unique pieces that are handmade in New York. Her jewelry materials include vintage, dead stock, and re-purposed goods – tres chic, and tres authentique. Plus Erica not only links past history with her work, she also contributes to creating a more harmonious world in which we can rock her work. Packing materials and mailers are 90% post consumer paper and 100% recyclable. The company offsets 300% of its carbon output through carbonfund.org. 5% of all after tax profits from the line go to charities. AND at prices hovering between $20-60 buckaroos, Erica Weiner is a great way to update your steez and stay wallet friendly.

Wanna hear a couple ditties? Well that adorable ring necklace — is actually a bronze engagement ring dated from the 15th century and excavated from the site of a medieval battle in the Balkans. Yup you heard that right. Oh and the bangles — those are randomly selected for a 4 piece set including various sized, designed, and material bracelets. No 2 sets are alike! The Old Style earrings? Apparently the boozy brand is considered the PBR of the Midwest (I assume we all have an appreciation for cheap beer). Maybe the budding storywriter in you will be drawn to the pen nib necklace — randomly selected from a bin of antique nibs found in a Maine barn.

Cop a Weiner piece and add your own history to this vintage legacy!

Aquarius

Once relegated to the bohemian and goth sets, crystal, amulet, and vial jewelry is becoming oh-so-popular with a much more mainstream audience.  So, it’s time to toss aside your rosary-inspired jewelry in favor of some bling with a more pagan influence! We are lovin’ the Animal Vial Necklace by new designer, Erica Weiner.  Each piece consists of a vial with a piece of amber with an insect trapped inside. How cool is that? In case wearing a prehistoric bug isn’t cool enough for you, amber is believed to have healing properties, and to be able to assist with emotional well-being.

I’m telling you I’m pregnant and you’re acting shockingly cavalier.

Ahh, Juno… Everyone’s favorite feisty and precocious preggo. Despite some questionable choices regarding Paulie Bleaker, Juno (played by Ellen Page) won our hearts with her quirky taste in music and of course, fashion. Get her look with the Harbour Tee by Brixton, the Chuck Taylor Slim Lo by Converse, the Checked Bongo Headphones by WeSC, the Dark Side Distress Tee by Chaser, and the Judy Returns Zip Hoody by Insight.

Representing Rollarballs

If you are up on all your fashion news (and I know you are, you little clothes-fiends, you) you already know that the blogosphere is all atwitter about the new Rollarball loafers by Louboutin. Well my friends, perhaps if you spent half as much time bustin’ your bum in the office as you did trolling fashion blogs, you’d be able to afford ‘em, but until then, how about you try these look-alikes by Matiko?  They look so similar that no one will suspect that they aren’t the real deal!

So, you’re saying that you would subject yourself to the violent dangers of these Chicago streets because “your home-life is unsatisfying”?

Why is it that my detentions were never this entertaining? For those of you living under a rock, John Hugh’s “The Breakfast Club” is the story of five teens stuck in Saturday detention together, all from very different high school cliques. While at first, it appears that they have nothing in common with one another, in the end each comes to realize that they are more than their respective stereotypes.  Take some fashion cues from the “princess” of the group and who knows? Maybe you’ll snag a bad boy of your own. Clockwise from the top: The Motel Black Forest Belt, the Jeffrey Campbell Joe II Boot, the Quiksilver Juxtapose Skirt,  and The Jack BB Dakota Daphne Top.

VOTAN Tokyo

Hey ladies! Remember that little zip over to the far east some Karmaloopers took earlier this summer? Well aside from brag worthy stories, clips, and flicks, they made sure to bring you a taste of Tokyo with our new jewelry and accessory line, VOTAN Tokyo. Ideal for the flirty, polished gal these heart, bow, pearl, and stud adorned pieces are a fresh addition to any outfit. And if you’re into wearing your heart on your sleeves, the line’s message bangles and charm necklaces do the talking for you with sweet phrases such as “Laughter is the best medicine“ and “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Check out the shots above from VOTAN’s lookbook for more of the adorable collection!

“You are not going out and getting jiggy with some boy, I don’t care how dope his ride is.”

Let me preface this post with note that if, when you hear the title “10 Things I Hate About You”, you automatically think of the very forgettable ABC Family remake, you suck.  The late 90′s rom-com is one of those  movies that never gets old.  Whether you watch for the awesomely inane plot or for the chance to stare at Heath Ledger for an hour and 37 minutes is up to you. Reminisce about your pre-teendom and steal Julia Stiles aka Kat Stratford’s style with the Converse Chuck Taylor Slim Lo, the Alternative Apparel Happy Hour A Line Tank Dress, the Ezekiel Navajo Tank and the BB Dakota Evanston Nappa Jacket.
